George Continues His International Progress Via The FIAP

George Robertson’s journey to the next level in the FIAP (Federation International of Photographic Art) award scheme is continuing in 2026 with some great results. As members will know MBCC is delighted to be the chosen partner of Friends of Milngavie Reservoir for their forthcoming Flow and Destination Exhibition which is inclusive of a unique photographic exhibition of images from MBCC members. 2026 Robert Simpson Trophy

As mentioned at our Club Meeting on the 17th Lynne Watson has agreed to run this year’s competition on Tuesday 17th March in the temporary absence of David. This will be along a  new format from previous years with all voting taking place prior to the event. Our Annual Club Competition V Hub Singer tool place at our club in Milngavie on the 24th. We would like to thank judge Rob Davis for hid adjudication and we were delighted to take the trophy back after a hard fought contest.

Syllabus Update + Call To Members

Elaine has made a few updates to the current syllabus and these can be viewed at the top of the Syllabus Section. On the 3rd March we have presentations from both David Muir and Ian Watt. David’s topic is Travels around Costa Rica capturing some of the sights and wildlife whilst Ian will present on Motoring Around Europe and Beyond. On the 17th we welcomed award winning landscape photographer Damian Shields to the Club. He is also Deputy Picture Editor of The Herald & Times Group and his topic for the evening was My Journey In Landscape. 

John Stringer Recognised At RPS Creative Eye Exhibition

Congratulations to John Stringer for his recent recognition at the Royal Photographic Society. His image College Reimagined depicts Strathclyde University’s Thomas Graham Building. The image can be viewed at the top of our National Recognition Section and also here.  

Scottish Photographic Circle Exhibition – Still Time To View

The Scottish Photographic Circle Exhibition is still open to viewing in Kirkintilloch until 12th March. It is being hosted at the Auld Kirk Museum, Cowgate, Kirkintilloch, G661HN. The exhibition is open Tuesday – Saturday between 10am-1pm & 2pm-5pm. It goes without saying that MBCC is represented and highly recognised within the event. Margaret, George and Norman account for 12 of the 66 images on show.

Tuesday 10th February 2026

On the 10th we had our our very own Ian Mitchell and Malcolm Boddie present at the club. Ian’s topic was A Little Bit Of Everything whilst Malcolm presented on his long term passion for sailing.

3rd League Competition 2025/6 – Results

Our 3rd League Competition of the season took place at the Club on 27th January 2026. Congratulations go to Stephen Phillips for winning the print competition with The Alternative Decoration – Morticia and, in respect of the PDI competition, congratulations go to George Robertson with Three In A Row. A special thanks go to judge Gordon Rae for his expert adjudication, guidance and sense of humour on all the prints and PDIs on the evening.
