Judges Comments

Sparrowhawk Portrait by Andy Gillies – Striking image with very good detail capturing the bird looking around to say “Are you looking at me?”. Love the fine details in the feathers and the contrasting green background really makes the image stand out.

Night In The Museum by Derek Manson – Very striking image that captures Glasgow’s modern architecture at the Museum of Transport. The angle has been chosen to showcase the iconic bold facade that reaches to the sky

Resting by Duncan McCallum – This picture portrays a jaguar which is seemingly trying to get some rest. Its expression says “Leave me! I am trying to get some sleep!”

Higher Beings Over Milngavie by David Muir – Beautifully captured local scene with the light above dancing and contrasting with the tranquil landscape below.

Tulip In Front of the TV by Logan Healy (8) –  Love the simplicity and the detail looks frozen in time. The colours, light and shade have been very well
chosen.

Drookit by Neil MacGregor – The image has a comical element to it as the bird has been caught in the rain. Calm and friendly the slightly open beak gives the impression of the bird about to have a conversation. Cleverly done. Striking image

Great Owl Peaking by Derek Manson – Love how the owl has peeked out from behind the tree as if to say hello.  The colour palette of the photo is quite neutral giving a sense of calm and control.

Mugdock Swan by Walter Ritchie – Beautifully captured Swan family. The image tells a story inviting the viewer in with the Mother Swan bending down towards her cygnets. The photo captures a happy family in a peaceful place.

Puffin Confab by Peter Grant – Love the title and the detail in each puffin interacting with each other. The photographer has represented very cleverly the birds ‘social life’

Sun-Kissed Grape Hyacinth by Andy Gillies – Love the simplicity and the detail looks frozen in time. The colours, light and shade have been very well chosen.
