Syllabus 2021-22 

Speakers will again be coming from much a wider variety of locations as was the case last year. Lectures will be held online by Zoom until further notice. At some point the committee anticipates switching to hybrid meetings that are both in-person and online simultaneously.

28th “A Year in East Anglia” –  speaker Harry Wheeler-Brand. Harry is a professional British landscape photographer from East Anglia. Harry specialises in inspirational photography of the wonderful landscapes of Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex & Cambridgeshire.

5th  – “My Photographic Journey ” – speaker Lee Sutton  Lee is a photographer from the North west of England and shoots weddings, lifestyle portraits, sport, wildlife, street, landscapes and pretty much anything.

12th “Living and Working in Namibia” – speaker Scott Hurd Speaker Scott Hurd Scott is a professional photographer living in Namibia. His work can range from photographing freedom fighters to African wildlife. His images have spearheaded major conservation campaigns and used in publications worldwide.

26th “Beyond Life Size – the Unique Challenges of Extreme Macro Photography”” – speaker Allan Walls  Allan is a very accomplished macro and closeup photographer based in the US, but with a link to Glasgow.

November 2021

2nd “Wildlife Photography Around the UK” – speaker Alison Jenkins  After many years of photographing wildlife Alison will present to you some of her favourite photographs and show you some fantastic and not expensive to get to locations to capture stunning wildlife shots. She will also explain shooting techniques and settings and show you the equipment used.

9th “Adventures of a Wildlife Photographer” – speaker Simon Roy Simon is an award winning wildlife photographer based in Wetherby. He says the talk has “images and stories from some of my best wildlife encounters”.

23rd  “Wonders of the Hashemite Kingdom” speaker Richard O’Brian  Richard is based in Yorkshire. An IT instructor by profession but now also an Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop and avid photographer.

7th “Land of Fire and Ice” -speaker Danny Green Danny is based in the UK and has been photographing the natural world for over thirty years. He travels to many parts of the world in search of images and has a passion for the colder climates. His work has been widely published around the world and he is represented by some of the leading picture libraries.

Annual Competition – Hand-In date ( now extended). This year’s competition will be in digital form only.

12th ‘Photographic Opportunity’ by Leigh Preston.  In 2021 Leigh said “This show contains a random, but considered set of images, all taken with a reason in mind, covering a number of paths which my photography has taken. My overriding thought is that an image has to convey something. This can be emotion, drama, design or a sense of ‘place’.  This recorded show has a running time of  64 min.
