Isle of May Hints, Tips & Images

On the 14th May 2026 Neil McGregor gave an excellent presentation on the experience he has inherited from a number of visits to the Isle of May in recent years. His talk included maps, posters recommended camera settings and great images of the islands’ wildlife and terrain. 2026 Flow and Destination Competition & Exhibition

The above exhibition at Mugdock Country Park has now ended. We would like to thank all MBCC Members and the Friends of Milngavie Reservoir who made this all possible. The Gallery all the shortlisted MBCC prints that were finally selected for the exhibition can be viewed in the Competitions Section and also here.

2026 Spring Visit To Glasgow Necropolis & Cathedral

Our visit to the Necropolis and Glasgow Cathedral was arranged and led by Denis and included Ian English, Ian Mitchell, Ian Kennedy, Andy, Tom, Graeme and Jack. 2026 Milngavie Week Photographic Competition

Preparations are now underway for this years competition and we have a reputation to maintain once again. Last year The top 3 images were all submitted by MBCC members. 1st Prize went to Andy Gillies with Sparrowhawk Portrait, 2nd prize went to Derek Manson with Night At The Museum and 3rd Prize went to Duncan McCallum with Resting. The Hidden Milngavie Category was won by MBCC Member David Muir with Higher Beings Over Mugdock. George and Neil Shine at this year’s SNPA

Congratulations go to both Neil MacGregor and George Robertson for having images shortlisted in consecutive Scottish Nature Photography Awards. Neil’s image, ‘The Puffins And The Turbines’ was taken on the Isle Of May and was Shortlisted in the Environmental Category. In environmental terms this image strikingly depicts the battle between our endangered natural environment and raw economic policy. On the 31st we hosted the annual Interclub Competition V Kirkintilloch . Congratulations go to Kirkintilloch for winning on the night and we thank Judge Guy Phillips who officiated on the evening.
