George and Neil Shine at this year’s SNPA

Congratulations go to both Neil MacGregor and George Robertson for having images shortlisted in consecutive Scottish Nature Photography Awards. Neil’s image, ‘The Puffins And The Turbines’ was taken on the Isle Of May and was Shortlisted in the Environmental Category. In environmental terms this image strikingly depicts the battle between our endangered natural environment and raw economic policy. On the 31st we hosted the annual Interclub Competition V Kirkintilloch . Congratulations go to Kirkintilloch for winning on the night and we thank Judge Guy Phillips who officiated on the evening.

On the 24th we presented the recorded lecture – Photographic opportunity by Leigh Preston – from the PAGB library. We also enjoyed the PAGB 2025 PDI championship images during the evening..

Sandy Barr takes the 2025/6 Robert Simpson Trophy

Congratulations go to Sandy Barr for taking the 2025/6 Robert Simpson Trophy with Fully Committed. In 2nd place was Don Jamie with Watching whilst Fiona Bryden took 3rd spot with Balmaha Winter Sunrise. 4th place was shared by Duncan McCallum (Flying High), Isobel MacLeod (Golden Glare) and Sandy Barr (A Stroll in Funchal). With votes now in, our meeting on the 17th sees the conclusion of the 2025/6 Robert Simpson Trophy, this year for digital images only. We would like to thank Lynne and David for compiling a revised judging system for the event. Tuesday 10th March 2026

On the 10th we welcomed guest speaker Don Stewart from Kirkintilloch CC. His topic for the evening was Living, Working & Photography in Antarctica. Don spent 5 years of his working life as a polar guide for the British Antarctic Survey and his excellent lecture focussed mainly on his most recent visit.
