Even before the end of the current season our Syllabus Secretary Elaine Prior is nearing completion on our new Syllabus which can be viewed in the Syllabus Section and also here. Any updates or changes in the coming months will be intimated via announcements on MBCC News.
We ended the competitive season with our Annual Competition at the Club on Tuesday 21st April. Congratulations go to to Derek Manson (A Kingfisher Supper) for winning the print competition and to George Robertson (Goshawk Focussed On Prey) for winning the PDI Competition. The latest collection of slider images at the top of the homepage include a selection of winning and shortlisted images from this season’s competitions. Well done to all that participated. It is the intention that slider images will be refreshed 4 times per annum.
The penultimate meeting of the season was our AGM on the 28th. The relevant papers will be circulated in due course.
On the 14th May 2026 Neil McGregor gave an excellent presentation on the experience he has inherited from a number of visits to the Isle of May in recent years. His talk included maps, posters recommended camera settings and great images of the islands’ wildlife and terrain. The above exhibition at Mugdock Country Park has now ended. We would like to thank all MBCC Members and the Friends of Milngavie Reservoir who made this all possible. The Gallery of all the shortlisted MBCC prints that were finally selected for the exhibition can be viewed in the Competitions Section and also here.
Our visit to the Necropolis and Glasgow Cathedral was arranged and led by Denis and included Ian English, Ian Mitchell, Ian Kennedy, Andy, Tom, Graeme and Jack. Preparations are now underway for this years competition and we have a reputation to maintain once again. Last year The top 3 images were all submitted by MBCC members. 1st Prize went to Andy Gillies with Sparrowhawk Portrait, 2nd prize went to Derek Manson with Night At The Museum and 3rd Prize went to Duncan McCallum with Resting. The Hidden Milngavie Category was won by MBCC Member David Muir with Higher Beings Over Mugdock. Congratulations go to both Neil MacGregor and George Robertson for having images shortlisted in consecutive Scottish Nature Photography Awards. Neil’s image, ‘The Puffins And The Turbines’ was taken on the Isle Of May and was Shortlisted in the Environmental Category. In environmental terms this image strikingly depicts the battle between our endangered natural environment and raw economic policy.
