APOY – Support & Join The MBCC Effort

Amateur Photographer of the Year (APOY) is the UK’s most prestigious photography competition for amateur photographers. The competition has 10 rounds, each with a different theme. The themes for the 2026 competition will be: Street, Black & White, Animal Kingdom, Celebrating Colour, Architecture, People & Portraits, Landscapes, Close-up & Macro, Night & Low Light, and Open (anything goes!). 2026 Allander Water Excursion

A big thank to Denis for organising and hosting our latest far travelled adventure along Allander Water on Wednesday 22nd April 2026. In attendance were Malcolm, Andy, Sandy, Dik, Iain Kennedy, Denis and Jack. A very enjoyable day of photography, banter and exercise. 2025/2026 Competition Winners

Congratulations go to Fiona Bryden & George Robertson for jointly winning the overall League Competition for PDIs and to George for landing the Print title. Lynne Secures DPAGB Accreditation

Following on from her CPAGB in 2024 Lynne Watson has recently been awarded her DPAGB Distinction Level – Photographic Alliance of Great Britain. Lynne would like to give a special thanks to Ian Tully, who kindly mentored her for her final prints. Membership Renewal 2026/7/Membership Enquiries

Following the conclusion of the current season your renewal is now due. Payment is via the form that Malcolm sent out earlier today. Enquiries from potential new members are very welcome with the current annual fee of £45 providing excellent value at less than £1 per week. 2026/7 Syllabus

Even before the end of the current season our Syllabus Secretary Elaine Prior is nearing completion on our new Syllabus which can be viewed in the Syllabus Section and also here. Any updates or changes in the coming months will be intimated via announcements on MBCC News.

2025/6 Annual Competition

We ended the competitive season with our Annual Competition at the Club on Tuesday 21st April. Congratulations go to to Derek Manson (A Kingfisher Supper) for winning the print competition and to George Robertson (Goshawk Focussed On Prey) for winning the PDI Competition. The latest collection of slider images at the top of the homepage include a selection of winning and shortlisted images from this season’s competitions. Well done to all that participated. It is the intention that slider images will be refreshed 4 times per annum.
