Tim’s talk covers his journey from when he began digital photography in 2008, to the ‘how’ and ‘why’ he came to largely focus on nudes. Tim is a member and Vice-President of Smethwick Photographic Society. We welcome Tim to the club.

Speaker: Shahbaz Majeed

Shahbaz’s Long Exposure presentation goes through his work and explains how they were produced, with plenty of technical information and location pointers and advise on how to achieve similar results. Shahbaz is a member of Dundee Photographic Society. We welcome Shahbaz to the club.

Lecture: ‘Wildlife of Tanzania’
Speaker: Zul Bhatia

Zul has been working for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds as a nature reserve warden/manager for about 30 years, currently he is based at the RSPB’s Lochwinnoch Nature Reserve. Zul has an exceptional knowledge of the wildlife of east Africa, especially Tanzania, which is what his talk is about this evening. He has lead wildlife tours for many years. Zul is also a member of Paisley Colour Photographic Club. We are delighted to have Zul visit the club.

Lecture: ‘In My Mind’s Eye’
Speaker: Neil Scott FRPS EFIAP DPAGB

Neil has been taking photographs seriously since 2005 when he joined Midlothian Camera Club. He joined Edinburgh Photographic Society (EPS) in 2006. His photographic interests are quite wide ranging, preferring people, abstracts and still life, and his favourite format is mono print work. Neil achieved his FRPS in 2012 and currently has over 600 acceptances in International salons from around 140 different images, including around 30 medals and ribbons. Neil is a Scottish Photographic Federation judge. Neil tonight presents a digital Lecture followed by display of prints. We are delighted to have Neil visit the club.

Martin has been working in press photography for over twenty three years. The last twenty two have been with the Herald and Times newspapers based in Glasgow. He has won numerous Scottish Press Awards and also runs photographic workshops. We welcome Martin to the club.

Ted Leeming and his wife Morag Paterson are landscape photographers based in Dumfries and Galloway in southwest Scotland. They have both had many successful exhibitions and workshops. They have had articles published in numerous photography magazines and newspapers and undertake commissioned work for various clients. We are delighted to have them both visit the club.

Lecture: ‘Glasgow 1955 + 55 Project’
Speaker: Tom Docherty

In 1955, several Glasgow camera clubs undertook a photographic survey of the city. In 2008, this work featured in an exhibition at the People’s Palace in Glasgow – “Glasgow 1955: Through the Lens.” Queen’s Park Camera Club, as the only surviving club of those that took part in the original survey, decided to undertake an update project. In the course of carrying out this work throughout 2010, Queen’s Park members tried to record as many aspects as possible depicting Glasgow in 2010 to feature in an exhibition to show the comparison between Glasgow in 1955 and 55 years later. We welcome Tom to the club.

Internal Night: Club Auction

auctionTime to clear out the cupboards and bookshelves and bring along any unwanted photo equipment. This can included camera’s, lenses, books, magazines, accessories, in fact anything photographic. The last one we held was highly entertaining and successful. A small commission will go to the club from any sales.

Internal Evening: Robert Simpson Cup

This will be an internal evening of peer-reviewed appraisal of prints produced by club members. Every member is invited to bring 3 prints for anonymous peer review. Members will then anonymously select 5 of their favourite images without an order of preference. In the event of a tie members will vote on the tied entries.

Ian gives a presentation on wildlife photography of butterflies, birds and mammals taken in tropical locations mostly from Venzuela, Brazil, Southern Africa and Borneo. We welcome Ian to the club.

Lecture: ‘Commonwealth Games’
Speaker: Duncan McEwan

We are delighted to have Duncan visit the club once more.

Duncan was the Official photographer with Team Scotland at 2006 (Melbourne) and 2010 (Delhi) Commonwealth Games. This evening he shows images from the Games in Melbourne 2006 and Delhi 2010 where he was an accredited photographer with Team Scotland. His talk illustrates the issues and demands of covering a multi-sport event where each sport requires a different approach.

Lecture: ‘Virtual Realities’
Speaker: Marc De Ridder

The club’s very own Marc De Ridder talks about “Virtual Reality” photography. Marc’s longstanding passion for panoramas became the natural stepping stone to his specialisation in virtual realities. The skills to stitch multiple images seamlessly into one single panoramic landscape are more or less identical to stitching multiple images into a virtual sphere that forms the basis for interactive virtual realities. This evening he show us how.
