Lecture: ‘Wildlife Close Encounters – from Bugs to Birds’
Speaker: Robert Trevis-Smith

Robert is a Getty Images Artist. His real passion and inspiration is the wildlife we share our planet with. Robert will be talking about the various tricks and techniques he uses to get ‘up close and personal results’ with ALL groups of animals – from bugs to birds – with the main focus on macro.

Lecture: ‘Photoshop Processing’
Speaker: Shahbaz Majeed

We are delighted to have Shahbaz revisit the club. What he will require is a selection of images (landscape to portraits etc) from the members (2 per club member), ideally RAW files, at least 2 weeks in advance of this date. This will allow him to process a selection of the images (around 10) in advance of the day and record the process to make them available for download for members. On the night Shahbaz will process around 5 images.

03=-Highland AutumnWe are looking for volunteers to do mini lectures of up to 20 minutes. Anyone is welcome to talk about their photography or photographic subject of interest. Have you any recent photo’s you would like to share with the club. Please let Malcolm or Diane know in advance, so we can plan the evening out.

Norman McNab is our 1st volunteer. His presentation will be on ‘Scotland’s Sub Arctic Landscape’.
Duncan McCallum has also volunteered to give a short Audio Visual presentation
Elaine Johnston has titled her talk ‘Life on the Ocean Wave’
Diane Smillie would like to share some images taken on North and South Uist

Speaker: Billy Currie

Billy will be doing a digital presentation with the emphasis on post production. Billy has had work published from National Geographic to National newspapers including The Times. He has regular sales within the UK, USA and various other countries. We are delighted to have Billy visit the club.

Speaker: Vladimir Donkov

Vladimir has worked as a photographer for the past 11 years in the United States, Bulgaria, Norway and the UK. Clients include: Hasselblad, Ogilvy,  National Forestry Board, Berghaus, The Royal Embassy of Norway, Pure Moments agency (France), Canon Bulgaria. We are delighted to have Vladimir visit the club.

Lecture: ‘Beginners Guide to Astro-photography’
Speaker: David Warrington

David Warrington will lecture on astrophotography, a specialised type of photography for recording images of astronomical objects and large areas of the night sky.

If you’ve ever wanted to capture the night sky, this talk will show you some of the basic methods and equipment used to photograph the cosmos, some practical demonstration of imaging techniques, and a display of astro-images taken from the Scottish Dark Sky Observatory.

Mini Lectures by Club Members

1st Part Evening: ‘Glasgow Street Photography and Portraits’
Speaker: Charles Hamilton

During the 1980’s Charles became interested in black and white photography and learned to process film and print in black & white. More recently, using a Nikon D90 and a Nikon D7000 with 18-105mm, 50mm or 35mm 1.8 lens and editing/post processing using Photoshop Elements. Charles favourite subjects to photograph are the colourful characters on the streets of Glasgow. We are delighted to have him visit the club.

Internal Evening: Robert Simpson Cup

This will be an internal evening of peer-reviewed appraisal of digital images produced by club members. Every member is invited to bring 3 digital images for anonymous peer review. Members will then anonymously select 5 of their favourite images without an order of preference. In the event of a tie members will vote on the tied entries.

Practical Evening: Audio visual techniques
Speaker: Reuben Mclean

This talk will cover the simplest approach for all to understand how to get basic stills and video from cameras, smart phones or existing files on to best quality DVDs.
They can then be shown on any DVD player. No sophisticated software or techniques will be used other than those readily available on existing PC an MACs.

Trip Out – 3 Titles: 3 Photos

This year, we have hired one of the BBQ sites at Murdock Country Park from 6pm – 9pm where we can explore the area to take 3 photos to represent 3 given words. At the end of the evening, we can meet up to download the images, have a burger & chat. Last year we struggled with the fading light and this is the reason we have made it a little earlier. Obviously this will be weather dependant!
